44 χρόνια μετά και ακόμη το εγκαταλελειμμένο Αεροδρόμιο Λευκωσίας, εξακολουθεί να προκαλεί δέος και να προσελκύει το παγκόσμιο ενδιαφέρον –κυρίως φωτογραφικά- με τις εικόνες από τα χαλάσματα και τα ερείπια να δημιουργούν συναισθήματα θλίψης και δυσφορίας.

Ο δημοσιογράφος Gabriel H. Sanchez του Buzzfeed.com, ανέβασε στις 29 Μαρτίου ένα άρθρο το οποίο αναφέρεται στο στοιχειωμένο αεροδρόμιο Λευκωσίας, με υλικό που μάζεψε από διάφορους φωτογράφους οι οποίοι «εισέβαλαν» κατά καιρούς στο εσωτερικό του αεροδρομίου αποτυπώνοντας τις σκληρές εικόνες της ερημιάς και της εγκατάλειψης.
